How to book a cheap flight
I will write about a specific situation, where direct flights are expensive or not available, what and how it’s worth to look. As an example I can mention a flight from Riga (Latvia) to Billund (Denmark) – booking in advance it costs ~ 100 lats (~140 euro) round-trip. I managed to find such trip with three planes for 18 lats (25 euro) during Ryanair share. Saving is worth it to tolerate transfer. In addition, transfer can be organized to see the nearest city, and so on.
The first thing you should know is the destination’s nearest airport. During airline discounts look for cheap flights from departure and destination airports. You may find really cheap flight with one transfer, but it may happen that it is even cheaper to include one more transfer, because there may not be discount to flight to airport which would match flights from destination and departure airports; or between flights there are several days connecting flights for two shares. For example, I found a cheap flight from Riga to Stockholm and from Stansted to Billund airport, and then postponed to find which days are cheaper to fly from Stockholm to Stansted airport. There should be at least 3 hours between flights, if there is less time I would recommend not to risk and find another flight. If you will miss the plain- it will be just your problem.
